We love all things cauliflower! This shawarma recipe, server over Our World Famous Hummus, is a delicious and easy one tray meal the whole family will love!

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Add the spices, tamari, lemon juice and vegetable broth to a large mixing bowl and stir well.
  • Add the cauliflower, onions, potato, tempeh and garlic and stir until all is well coated with the spice mixture.
  • Ladle mixture onto a parchment lined baking tray leaving the remaining liquid in the bowl.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Pour on remaining liquid and stir around a bit. Bake for another 10 minutes.
  • Serve on top of a spoonful of hummus spread onto a plate.

  1. Hi Jill, I have read that steaming the tempeh before cooking helps with the bitter tempeh flavor. The one time I used the tempeh, I didn’t steam it and had an after taste. Do you think it might be a good idea to initially steam it for 10 or 15 minutes? Perhaps your recipe with all the lovely flavors already addresses it. Thanks

    1. Hmm, I haven’t tried steaming it first. I might have to give it a try. We are used to the flavor so the bitterness doesn’t bother us anymore.
