  1. Loved the hummus! I tried adding some miso broth concentrate and it added a bit more flavor. I recently discovered your show. I was looking for a nutritarian cooking show so was very excited to find you. I will be checking back regularly to try new recipes. Thank you!

I didn’t have two cans of chickpeas, so I subbed with a single can of great northern white beans instead. Turned out great. We both really enjoyed this recipe.

  3. I have tried several of your recipes and they all turned out great. I hope to see you adding many more recipes. This Hummus is by far the best Hummus I have made. Thank you.

This is the best oil free hummus I’ve made. I am taking this to a NYE party and wanted to flavor it for a crowd pleasing dip. I choose to go with an Indian flair and added before blending: 2 additional cloves of garlic, 1 t Garam Masala,, 1 t chili paste (add more if want spicy), 1/2 t cumin, 1/4 t tumeric & a generous amount of black pepper. Delicious! Thank you.

  10. Followed the recipe. It’s tasty, but I can really taste the Liquid Aminos. How can I tame that? More Lemon Juice?

Just made the hummus and it is sooooooooo delicious! I swapped the Amino Acids with organic soy sauce and only had a can and a half of garbanzo beans. Will never buy store bought hummus again! Thank you Jill!

  12. Hi Jill, I learnt this from an indian chef but as always its up to teh individual taste I added some light coloured sesame seeds and black pepper to your recipe, Thanks FB

I just made this recipe, it’s delicious! I’ve made lots of hummus before, but there is always added oil, so this is a great help as I am moving into my nutritarian lifestyle. I halved the recipe, but then absentmindedly added too much lemon and tahini, but it still came out great. I added a bunch of black pepper and some cayenne pepper as well. This recipe is a keeper, thanks Jill!

  14. Thanks Jill! Love your YouTube channel and your recipes. Just risked an ice storm (I was out of tahini) to make this recipe…and all is good in the world. Great recipe.

  15. Congrats on a totally awesome channel, my favorite so far! Keep up your excellent energy, I’m appreciate ???

  16. Mine got “hard” after a day, and became clumpy and hard to stir. I did omit the cashews, and the beans and water were hot from cooking when I was mixing them in the Vitamix. Any ideas as to why mine turned out this way?

Also, I’m using beans I cook myself. What’s the ratio of beans to water? Maybe that’s my problem.

    1. I find that when I blend the chickpeas when they are hot they get really pasty and dry. Try waiting until they are cool. =)

  17. I would love to know where you buy your cashews? I’ve been searching for the most adorable price! TIA

  18. This is great hummus that can compete with any store-bought hummus. I love it because it’s oil-free and my son loves it because it just tastes that good!

Hi Jill, love your recipes. I placed3 can of garbanzo. After following your recipe I split it in 1/2 added a small green jalapeño and 3 small avocados and 1/2 lemon juice and 1 bunch of cilantro.
To the other 1/2 I added a bottle of roasted red peppers and 2 red jalapeños and a tsp o chili flakes. Both turned out delicious.

  20. I cook my own garbanzo beans according to your recipe in the instant pot. How do I get the liquid for this recipe if the beans are home cooked not caned beans?

    1. You can just add a bit of water. When I cook my beans, I usually add a bit of the cook water to the container before freezing them.

  21. I’m going to try this recipe. I’ve been looking for a good oil free hummus. I really like Red Pepper Hummus, do you think I could add a few roasted red peppers to this recipe and it would taste good? Thanks

This recipe was quick–I had to watch your video again, and reread the recipe instructions. To make sure I didn’t miss anything.

For the last couple of weeks. This has been a wonderful addition to my veggie snacks, and veggie sandwiches!
