Green Goddess dressing has been on our list to recreate as an oil-free dressing for over a year. The original dressing uses various animal products to create the popular flavor so it has taken quite a bit of experimenting to get this just right. I think I finally have it nailed and this salad and dressing recipe is our new favorite. Eating salad every day is essential to a Plant Based Vegan diet, even in the winter. I hope this refreshing salad full of green magic will be one way for you to get your greens in!

Dressing

Instructions
 

  • Place all the salad ingredients into a large salad bowl.
  • Add all dressing ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour dressing over salad and mix together.
  • Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 days.

I have been wanting to make another Green Goddess Dressing recipe but yours looks even better! I can’t have nuts or seeds. Do you have a recommendation for replacing both? Maybe white beans or silken tofu for the cashews and hemp or flax for the sunflower seeds? I’m open to any suggestions. Thanks!

I would say a mixture of tofu and hemp seeds.

You frequently use tarragon. Is there something with a similar taste to it that can be substituted? I am a big gardener and whenecer I used to plant taragon, if I got even near to it, my skin would break out into redness and an obvious allergic reaction, so I stopped planting and eating it.

I don’t know anything that has a similar flavor but you can just leave it out.

Tarragon is in the liquorice flavor family. Try one of the basils, anise, star anise or fennel. Experiment!

I notice nutritional yeast is used in many recipes. What’s a good substitute for that? I like the flavor it imparts but Nutritional yeast gives me a crushing headache. I’ve also read it has natural occurring MSG.

Yes, I would just go with 1 so it doesn’t end up too sweet
