Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie

by Jill Dalton February 24, 2019

For those of you out there that suffer with Arthritis or achy joints this Plant Based Vegan Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie is going to hit the spot. Dealing with atrophy and painful joints in my fingers from having a cast on due to a broken metacarpal, I was looking for relief. Researching the most effective foods to deal with inflammation and joint pain I found turmeric and ginger to be on the top of the list. Dark sweet cherries and pineapple also happened to be high on the list so I decided to whip them up together and came up with this delicious healing smoothie. Hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

Thanks for this Jill! I’ve made it twice already. I have done ginger/turmeric in almond milk with a date which is also good, but this is even better for you! Fresh turmeric and ginger are a bit of an acquired taste, but once I acquired it, I really like it. I appreciate another way to use it. Totally understand the stiffness etc from being immobile. Happened to me with shoulder surgery and hip surgery. It will get better with persistence and time! I have had the most success with someone who does soft tissue work like the graston technique.

Hi Jill
Great idea. To make it even more nutritarian compliant I would add some microgreens/sprouts and some sprouted beans(lentils, peas)

This smoothie really works! My left shoulder has been bothering me for the past couple of weeks. After trying this smoothie out, the pain stopped after about 15 minutes. I will definitely keep the ingredients on hand to make this gem! Thanks for creating this great recipe!

You need to add some black pepper! It boosts the anti-inflammatory effects of tumeric alone 8 times!

Thanks Jill, just made this for the first time. It’s a bit sweet for me, so I’ll probably add a little lime juice to sour it up. Fresh turmeric isn’t so easy to find in the UK, but we have Costco in some cities. They sell 500g of organic turmeric for £3.99. Though I’d share that for any other UK based viewers. Costco also have organic ginger at a really good price.

Juliet, thanks for the info,it’s much appreciated. I have been buying organic turmeric from Riverford and Waitrose. It’s certainly not cheap. (£1.80 for 100g) It never crossed my mind that my local Costco store would sell it. Thanks again.

And Jill, I LOVE the smoothie, in fact all the family are hooked on it. We enjoy it so much we have been drinking it every day.
